What pre-filters does a GrowoniX EX or GX system use?
The EX / GX units with Big Blue pre-filters take standard 10" × 4.5" cartridges: one sediment filter and one carbon filter. Our PureT SC-10PT-BP-5 and IF-SM-CG010B are that size.
Why use catalytic carbon instead of regular carbon?
Many city systems use chloramine, which damages RO membranes and is harder to remove than chlorine. Catalytic carbon is made to break down chloramine as well as chlorine, so it protects the membrane better.
Do you sell GrowoniX membranes?
No. GrowoniX membranes are made for GrowoniX housings and we do not stock a compatible one. Buy the membrane from GrowoniX. We can save you money on the sediment and carbon pre-filters.
How often should I change the pre-filters?
Every 6 to 12 months for most water. Change the sediment filter sooner if pressure or flow drops. Change the carbon filter on time to keep chlorine and chloramine off the membrane.
Do the EX1000-T filters fit my EX / GX unit?
No. The EX1000-T (tall) uses 20" × 4.5" pre-filters, twice as long as the 10" cartridges on the standard units. See the EX1000-T page.
