Calcite & Corosex pH-Neutralizing Media
Acidic (low-pH) water is corrosive — it eats copper pipe and leaves blue-green stains. Neutralizing media dissolve slowly to raise pH back toward neutral as water passes through a backwashing tank. We stock calcite and Corosex in bag and bulk quantities for whole-house acid-neutralizer systems.
How to choose neutralizing media
Calcite vs. Corosex. Calcite gently raises mildly acidic water; Corosex (magnesium oxide) corrects more aggressive low pH — the two are often blended.
It dissolves — top it off. Neutralizing media is consumed over time; plan to add media periodically to keep the bed full.
Watch for hardness. Neutralizing adds some hardness; heavily corrected water may want a softener downstream.
Size to the acidity. More aggressive water and higher flow need more contact — size the bed accordingly.
