Big Blue Filter Housing for Maximum Flow and Capacity
High-performance filter housings designed for whole-house and commercial applications requiring superior flow rates and extended filter life.
Big Blue filter housings provide the large capacity and high flow rates needed for demanding water filtration applications. These robust housing units accommodate oversized filter cartridges, making them ideal for homes with multiple bathrooms, commercial properties, and industrial settings where water quality and consistent pressure are essential.
Why Choose Big Blue
Built for Performance and Durability
High Flow Capacity
Big Blue housings are engineered to handle flow rates up to 25 gallons per minute, ensuring adequate water pressure throughout your entire property even during peak usage times. The larger diameter design minimizes pressure drop while maximizing filtration efficiency.
Easy Maintenance Access
Features like pressure release buttons, wrench-friendly caps, and clear sump options make filter changes straightforward and mess-free. The double O-ring design on premium models ensures leak-proof performance and extends the service life of sealing components.
Heavy-Duty Construction
Manufactured from durable reinforced polypropylene or glass-filled materials that withstand high pressure and temperature fluctuations. Available in clear, blue, or opaque sumps to prevent algae growth and maintain water purity in various installation environments.
Installation Process
Setting Up Your Big Blue Housing
Select Location and Prepare Plumbing
Choose an accessible location on your main water line after the pressure tank but before any branch lines. Ensure adequate clearance below the housing for filter changes. Install shut-off valves on both inlet and outlet sides, and verify that your plumbing connections match the NPT port size of your chosen housing.
Install Housing and Filter Cartridge
Mount the housing bracket securely to the wall using appropriate anchors. Insert your selected filter cartridge into the sump, lubricate both O-rings with food-grade silicone grease, and hand-tighten the cap until snug. Connect inlet and outlet plumbing using thread sealant tape or pipe dope on male threads only.
Flush System and Check for Leaks
Slowly open the inlet valve and allow the housing to fill completely. Use the pressure release button to purge trapped air. Open the outlet valve and run water through a downstream faucet for several minutes to flush the new filter. Inspect all connections for leaks and tighten as needed, then monitor the system for 24 hours.
Professional Tip: Always depressurize your Big Blue housing using the pressure release button before attempting to unscrew the sump for filter changes. This simple step prevents water spray, protects the O-ring seals from damage, and makes the cap much easier to remove, especially after months of service under pressure.
Superior Flow Rates
The oversized design accommodates larger filter cartridges with greater surface area, allowing water to flow freely while maintaining filtration effectiveness. This prevents pressure drops that can affect appliance performance and shower quality throughout your property.
Extended Filter Life
Big Blue cartridges hold significantly more contaminants than standard 10-inch filters, reducing replacement frequency from monthly to quarterly or even annually depending on water quality and usage. This translates to lower maintenance costs and less hassle over time.
Versatile Applications
Compatible with hundreds of different filter cartridge types including sediment, carbon block, pleated, and specialty media filters. This flexibility allows you to customize your filtration strategy for specific contaminants like chlorine, iron, sediment, or taste and odor issues.
Reliable Seal Technology
Premium models feature double O-ring configurations and precision-molded threads that create watertight seals even under high pressure conditions. Quality materials resist degradation from chlorine and temperature extremes, ensuring leak-free operation for years of dependable service.
