Installation Process
How Compression Fittings Work
Prepare the Tubing
Cut the tubing to the required length using a proper tubing cutter to ensure a clean, square edge. Remove any burrs or debris from the cut end and verify that the tubing diameter matches the fitting specifications for proper compression seal formation.
Assemble Components
Slide the ferrule nut onto the tubing followed by the integral sleeve, ensuring correct orientation of each component. Insert the tubing fully into the fitting body until it reaches the internal stop, which ensures proper depth for maximum seal integrity.
Tighten and Secure
Hand-tighten the ferrule nut onto the fitting body, then apply an additional one and one-quarter turns using a wrench. The compression action causes the integral sleeve to grip the tubing firmly while creating a watertight seal against the fitting body.
Critical Installation Note: Compression fittings should only be used on fixed connections, not on moving parts or flexible assemblies. Once properly installed, avoid disassembling and reconnecting the fitting, as this can compromise the integrity of the compression seal and lead to potential leaks in your water system.
