What filters does the HydroLogic smallBoy use?
Two 10" × 2.5" filters: a cleanable pleated sediment filter and a green coconut carbon filter (HydroLogic 22110). You can swap the carbon for a KDF85/catalytic carbon upgrade.
How often should I change the smallBoy filters?
HydroLogic rates the sediment and green coconut carbon filters at about 3,000 gallons each in the smallBoy, and the KDF85/catalytic upgrade at about 6,000 gallons. Clean the pleated sediment filter whenever flow drops.
Is the smallBoy a reverse osmosis system?
No. The smallBoy is a sediment filter and dechlorinator rated at 1 GPM (about 60 gallons per hour). It has no membrane, so there is no membrane to replace.
Should I use the KDF85/catalytic upgrade?
