APEC RO-Hi filter FAQ
What filters does the APEC RO-Hi use?
Five stages: a 5 micron sediment filter, two carbon block filters (all 10" × 2.5"), a 90 GPD RO membrane (APEC MEM-90) and a 10" inline coconut carbon post-filter with ⅜" quick-connects (APEC 5-TCR-3-8). Our APEC pre-filter set covers stages 1 to 3.
Why does the RO-Hi need a ⅜" post-filter?
The RO-Hi is APEC's fast-flow model. It uses ⅜" output tubing to the faucet, so the stage 5 inline filter needs ⅜" quick-connects. A ¼" post-filter will not connect without adapters. Standard RO-90 and RO-45 units use ¼".
Can I use a 100 GPD membrane in my RO-Hi?
Yes. The 100 GPD TFCK-1812-100 is the same 1812 size as the APEC MEM-90 and fits the same housing. Output still depends on your water pressure and temperature.
How often should I change the filters on an APEC RO-Hi?
Change stages 1 to 3 every 6 to 12 months and the post-filter about once a year. The membrane usually lasts 2 to 3 years. Change sooner if flow drops or taste changes.
Do the RO-90 and RO-Hi take the same filters?
Stages 1 to 4 are the same size. The difference is the post-filter: the RO-Hi uses a ⅜" quick-connect version. Not sure which you have? Call (714) 541-6600.
