What filters does the GE Merlin use?
A 2.75" × 17" carbon block pre-filter (GE 3038333), two 3.16" × 18.75" TFC membranes (GE 4000569) and a 255526-43 post-filter. The 1255052 set has all four parts.
How many membranes does the Merlin take?
Two. The Merlin runs two 4000569 membranes. Our pack of 2 replaces both, and the 1255052 set includes both.
How often should I change the Merlin pre-filter?
Every 6 months on chlorinated city water, sooner if flow drops. The carbon block protects the membranes from chlorine, so do not stretch it.
Is there a cheaper Merlin pre-filter?
Yes. The Filtrex FX17CL2 is a 17" carbon block made for the Merlin and costs less than the genuine GE 3038333.
