What filters does the Watts RO-TFM-5SV use?
Five stages: a 5 micron sediment cartridge, two 5 micron carbon blocks (all 10" × 2.5"), a 50 GPD membrane with a built-in check valve (Watts 560018) and a 10" × 2" inline GAC post-filter with ¼" NPT threads.
Do the RO-TFM-5SV, WP-5 and WP5-50 take the same filters?
Yes. Watts sells the same annual filter pack for the RO-TFM-5SV, WP-5 and WP5-50, and the 560018 membrane fits all three.
Can I use a standard 1812 membrane instead of the 560018?
The 560018 has a check valve built into the membrane. A standard 1812 membrane has none, so water can flow back from the tank. Use the IPW560018 or the genuine Watts part.
How often should I change the filters?
Change the sediment, carbon blocks and inline post-filter every 6 to 12 months. The membrane usually lasts 2 to 3 years. Change sooner if flow drops or the water tastes off.
