AquaFX Barracuda filter FAQ
What filters does the AquaFX Barracuda use?
Four stages: a 1 micron sediment filter, a Chlorine Guzzler carbon block, a TFC RO membrane and a color-indicating mixed-bed DI cartridge. The AquaFX 10" set has the sediment, carbon and DI. The membrane is sold separately.
When should I change the DI cartridge?
Change it when the color change in the resin reaches the outlet end, or when a TDS meter after the DI stage reads above 0. Change the sediment and carbon every 6 to 12 months.
Which membrane fits my Barracuda?
AquaFX sold the Barracuda from 50 to 200 GPD. Match the GPD printed on your old membrane. We stock 1812 membranes from 50 to 150 GPD. For a 200 GPD unit, call (714) 541-6600 before you order.
Will this carbon block handle chloramine?
No. The standard coconut carbon block is made for chlorine. AquaFX sells a separate Barracuda Glacial model for chloramine. If your city uses chloramine, call (714) 541-6600 and we will help you pick a cartridge.
