What filters does the Ameritek RO use?
Five stages: a 5 micron sediment pre-filter, a GAC carbon pre-filter, a carbon block pre-filter, a 50 GPD RO membrane and an inline post-filter. The Ameritek RO kit has all of them.
What is different on the Ameritek Alkaline RO?
It uses the same five stages plus a sixth: an inline alkaline mineral cartridge that adds calcium and magnesium back and raises pH. We sell it as the Hydronix ICF-2512-ALK, and it is included in the Ameritek Alkaline kit.
Can I turn my standard Ameritek into an alkaline system?
Yes. The alkaline cartridge goes inline after the post-filter, on the faucet line. It has ¼" female NPT threads, so you need two ¼" fittings for your tubing. Call (714) 541-6600 if you want help choosing them.
How often should I change the Ameritek filters?
Change the sediment, GAC, carbon block, inline post-filter and alkaline cartridge every 12 months. The membrane usually lasts 2 to 3 years. Change sooner if flow drops or taste changes.
Can I buy single Ameritek cartridges?
