Find the Right Wrench for Your System
Spanner Wrenches
Designed for slim-line and standard housings with specific pin configurations. The Pentek SW-1A fits slim-line housings while the SW-2 accommodates 3/4-inch housings, providing leverage without slipping or scratching the housing surface.
Big Blue Wrenches
Heavy-duty filter wrenches engineered for #20 Big Blue housings in white or clear configurations. The Pentek BW-FHWR provides the torque needed to loosen large filter sumps that become tight from water pressure and temperature changes over time.
O-Rings & Seals
Replacement O-rings for Q-Series filter housings in both small head and large head configurations. Omnipure O-rings are precision-sized to create water-tight seals and prevent leaks during filter changes, with specifications for different housing models.
How to Use
Proper Filter Wrench Technique
Shut Off and Depressurize
Turn off the water supply valve and press the pressure release button on your system. Allow all water pressure to release completely before attempting to unscrew the housing to prevent sudden releases and water spray.
Position the Wrench
Match your wrench type to the housing configuration, ensuring pins or grips align with the housing slots or ridges. Apply the wrench firmly and turn counterclockwise with steady pressure rather than jerking motions to avoid cracking the housing.
Inspect and Replace O-Ring
Once the housing is removed, inspect the O-ring for cracks, compression marks, or debris. Clean the O-ring groove thoroughly and apply food-grade silicone lubricant to the new O-ring before reassembly to ensure a proper seal and easier future removal.
Pro Tip: If a housing is severely stuck, wrap a damp towel around it for better grip and apply penetrating lubricant around the threads. Wait 10 minutes before using your wrench to allow the lubricant to work into the threads, reducing the risk of cross-threading or housing damage.
Precision Fit Design
Each wrench is engineered for specific housing models and thread patterns, ensuring proper contact points that distribute force evenly and prevent slipping that can round off housing edges or strip threads.
Enhanced Leverage
Extended handle lengths and strategic grip placement provide the mechanical advantage needed to break free housings that have been sealed under pressure for months, reducing physical strain on your hands and wrists.
Housing Protection
Smooth contact surfaces and proper tool geometry prevent scratches, cracks, and stress fractures in housing materials. Using the correct wrench extends the life of your expensive filter housings and maintains their structural integrity.
Faster Maintenance
Professional wrenches reduce filter change time from a frustrating 20-minute struggle to a quick 2-minute task. Spend less time fighting stuck housings and more time ensuring your water filtration system operates at peak performance.
