INSTALLATION & USE
Setup & Operation
- Mount the housing securely to a wall or frame using appropriate brackets, ensuring the sump has clearance below for cartridge changes.
- Apply thread sealant tape to 3/4" NPT connections and install inlet and outlet plumbing. Verify proper flow direction if using directional filter cartridges.
- Insert your 2.5" x 20" filter cartridge into the housing, then hand-tighten the sump onto the cap with the buttress threads until snug and properly seated.
- Open water supply slowly and inspect all connections for leaks. Flush the new cartridge for 2-3 minutes before putting into service.
- Replace filter cartridges according to manufacturer recommendations or when flow rate decreases noticeably. Always depressurize before opening the housing.

This Watts Flowmatic housing accepts any standard 2.5" diameter x 20" length filter cartridge, including sediment, carbon block, pleated polyester, and specialty media cartridges from Watts, Pentek, Hydronix, and other major brands. The heavy-duty polypropylene construction and EPDM seals make it suitable for commercial water filtration, chemical processing, food service, industrial pre-filtration, and applications involving aggressive chemicals like acids, ammonia, oils, and plating solutions. Not recommended for pressure relief applications or temperatures exceeding 100°F.
🔧 Pro Tip: Before threading the sump on, lightly lubricate the EPDM o-rings with food-grade silicone grease. This prevents pinching during installation and makes cartridge changes much easier down the line, especially in commercial settings where frequent maintenance is critical.
