How to Install AquaLock Hose Barb Elbow Fittings
- Cut tubing squarely using a proper tubing cutter to ensure a clean, perpendicular edge free of burrs or deformation.
- Mark the insertion depth on the tubing using the fitting body as a guide, typically 1 to 1.5 inches depending on size.
- Push the tubing firmly into the fitting socket until it bottoms out against the internal stop, ensuring full engagement with the O-ring seal.
- Tug gently on the tubing to confirm the locking mechanism has engaged and the connection is secure before pressurizing the system.
Tubing and System Compatibility
Watts AquaLock fittings work with copper tube sizes from 1/4" CTS to 1" CTS, corresponding to polypropylene tubing OD sizes from 3/8" to 1-1/8". They are compatible with rigid and semi-rigid tubing materials including copper, CPVC, PEX-A, PEX-B, PEX-C, and all grades of polyethylene (LDPE, MDPE, HDPE). For reverse osmosis systems, use with 3/8" or 1/2" OD tubing between pre-filters, storage tanks, and faucets. Do not use with soft vinyl or rubber hose, which may not provide adequate grip for the internal collet mechanism.
