2088 Series High-Flow Delivery Pump
The workhorse of small diaphragm pumps — high flow at moderate pressure for beverage dispensing, city water boost, cart delivery, and batch transfer.
The Shurflo 2088 Series moves roughly twice the volume of an 8000 Series pump at about half the pressure. It activates automatically as line pressure drops and shuts off at its setpoint, making it the standard choice for on-demand delivery where an unattended pump has to cycle reliably for years. All three models here ship without a power cord and require a customer-supplied power source.

The pressure switch is adjustable from 30 to 50 PSI and leaves the factory set at 45 PSI shut-off, turning back on at roughly 25 PSI. Flow figures are open flow — expect around 2.5 GPM at 20 PSI and 2.0 GPM at 40 PSI. The 24 VDC model draws considerably more current than the AC models; size your supply accordingly.

Self-Priming, Dry-Run Safe
Primes up to 12 vertical feet on the 24 VDC and 115 VAC models, 9 feet on the 230 VAC model. Running dry causes no damage.

Setting Up Your 2088
- Mount the pump where it can be serviced, keeping the inlet within the priming lift for your model (12 ft, or 9 ft on the 230 VAC unit). Reduce lift by 1 foot per 1,000 ft of altitude.
- Connect inlet and outlet to the 1/2"-14 male straight thread ports. These are parallel threads, not tapered — use Shurflo swivel fittings rather than sealing on the thread.
- Fit an inlet strainer. Debris reaching the valves is the most common cause of premature failure on this series.
- Wire to the correct supply for your model — 24 VDC, 115 VAC or 230 VAC. No cord is supplied with any model on this page.
- Prime by allowing water through the inlet, then power up and confirm the pump shuts off at pressure.
Pro tip: if the pump draws from a source below its mounting height, add a check valve on the inlet side. It prevents backflow and helps hold prime between cycles — particularly worthwhile in intermittent applications like vending machines.
