Installing Your Rusco Sediment Trapper
- Install filter body inline using appropriate slip connections for 3/4" or 1" plumbing, ensuring flow direction matches arrow on housing
- Insert selected mesh screen element into filter body chamber, seating firmly against internal stop
- Hand-tighten sump bowl to body, pressurize system slowly, and check all connections for leaks before full operation
- Flush sediment from bottom drain valve regularly without system shutdown—spin-down design allows cleaning under pressure
- Monitor clear sump bowl for sediment accumulation and increase flush frequency if buildup occurs between service intervals
System Integration
The Rusco sediment trapper integrates into well water systems, irrigation lines, and whole-house filtration as primary sediment protection. For drip irrigation and sprinkler systems, use 40-60 mesh screens to protect emitters and valve diaphragms. When installing upstream of reverse osmosis systems, select 250-1000 mesh screens for fine sediment removal that extends membrane life. Stainless steel screens offer superior durability in high-sediment well applications compared to polyester screens. The clear sump bowl enables visual monitoring, though algae growth can occur with light exposure—use the Rusco sun shield accessory on outdoor installations or in areas with direct sunlight.
