INSTALLATION & USE
Filter Replacement Process
- Shut off water supply and relieve system pressure using the housing's pressure release button
- Unscrew the Big Blue filter housing using a standard housing wrench, then remove and discard the old cartridge
- Clean the housing interior and o-ring, apply a thin layer of food-grade silicone lubricant to the o-ring, and insert the new WP5BB97P cartridge
- Hand-tighten the housing, restore water pressure slowly, and check for leaks around the housing seal
COMPATIBILITY
Housing Requirements
The Pentek WP5BB97P fits all standard 10-inch Big Blue filter housings with 4.5-inch diameter capacity. This includes Pentek, Pentair, Culligan, and most third-party housings designed for 10" x 4.5" cartridges. The filter is suitable for municipal water, well water, and commercial sediment filtration where fine particle removal is required before downstream equipment or point-of-use filters.
🔧 Pro tip: The WP series wound pattern provides significantly better dirt capacity than standard CW-style filters. Replace every 3-6 months in residential applications or when you notice pressure drop, whichever comes first. Well water users with heavy sediment loads should inspect monthly.
