Housing Requirements
The Pentek RFFE10-BB cartridge is designed for use in Pentek 10-inch Big Blue filter housings with 4.5-inch diameter capacity. Install on the main cold water line after the pressure tank or water meter. For best results, pair with sediment pre-filtration to protect the resin bed and activated carbon post-filtration to polish taste and remove any remaining organics. The 20-inch version (RFFE20-BB) is available for higher flow applications.
Cartridge Replacement Schedule
Standard Replacement
Replace cartridge when iron breakthrough occurs, indicated by return of metallic taste or staining. Service life depends on iron concentration and water volume
Visual Inspection
Check for pressure drop, staining reappearance, or taste changes. Monitor flow rate to detect exhausted resin bed
Water Testing
Verify pH above 7.0, manganese below 1 ppm, silica below 100 ppm, and no iron bacteria or hydrogen sulfide present
Chemical-Free Treatment
Ion exchange resin removes dissolved iron without introducing chlorine, salt, or other additives to your drinking water
