Built to order for your application

Each NWS-NITRATE system is assembled specifically for your order. Typical processing time is 3–5 business days before the system ships.

Two sizes, one proven platform

Both models share the same nitrate-selective resin and metered control valve — pick the flow rate that matches your household or facility demand.

What are nitrates, and how do they get into water?

Nitrates are naturally occurring compounds formed when organic matter decomposes, and they are also a common component of fertilizers. Because nitrates are highly soluble and don't bind to soil, they move easily into groundwater.

In drinking water, nitrates are colorless, odorless, and tasteless — there's no way to detect them without a water test. That's what makes regular testing so important for anyone on a private well.

Nitrates and your water

High nitrate levels in drinking water are a recognized health concern, and the U.S. EPA has set clear guidance for testing and acceptable limits.

10 ppm

EPA Maximum Contaminant Level

The U.S. EPA has set the Maximum Contaminant Level for nitrates in drinking water at 10 parts per million.

1–3 yrs

Recommended Testing

The EPA recommends that well users test their water for nitrates every one to three years.

At Risk

Sensitive Groups

High nitrate levels can cause serious illness, particularly in infants, young children, and adults with certain enzyme deficiencies.

Engineered around nitrate-selective resin

At the core of every NWS-NITRATE system is ResinTech SIR-100-HP — a chloride-form, microporous, nitrate-selective strong base anion resin.

Nitrate-Selective by Design

SIR-100-HP increases selectivity for nitrate while decreasing selectivity for sulfate — so it targets the contaminant you're trying to remove.

Higher Operating Capacity

Its selectivity profile delivers higher operating capacity than standard type 1 or type 2 anion resins — more water treated between cycles.

Lower Nitrate Leakage

Compared to conventional anion resins, SIR-100-HP produces lower nitrate leakage — more consistent treated water quality.

Metered Control Valve

A 1" metered control valve monitors gallons used and includes a programmable service reminder — set it to time, gallons, or both.

WQA Gold Seal Resin

The SIR-100-HP resin is Gold Seal Certified by the Water Quality Association (WQA) for use with potable water.

Complete & Ready to Install

Ships as a full assembly — mineral tank, resin, control valve, system bypass, and charcoal brine tank with safety valve.

Ion exchange, simplified

Nitrate ions carry a negative charge. The chloride-form anion resin is engineered to swap them out as water flows through the mineral tank.

1

Water Enters

Nitrate-bearing water flows into the mineral tank through the 1" metered control valve.

2

Resin Exchanges Ions

The SIR-100-HP resin captures nitrate ions and releases harmless chloride in their place.

3

Regeneration

The system periodically regenerates the resin using brine from the charcoal brine tank, restoring capacity.

What ships with each system

Every NWS-NITRATE system is built to order as a complete, install-ready assembly.

Polyglass Mineral Tank

10" × 54" on the 6 GPM model, 13" × 54" on the 10 GPM model — sized to match flow capacity.

ResinTech SIR-100-HP Resin

The nitrate-selective ion exchange media at the heart of the system.

1" Metered Control Valve

Monitors gallons used, with a programmable service reminder set to time, gallons, or both.

Charcoal Brine Tank with Clack 474 Safety Valve

1517 brine tank on the 6 GPM model, 1840 on the 10 GPM model, with an integrated safety valve to guard against overflow.

System Bypass

Lets you isolate the system from your plumbing for service or maintenance without shutting off the home.

Before you specify the system

Which model should I choose — 6 GPM or 10 GPM?
The 6 GPM NWS-NITRATE-6 is sized for typical residential whole-home use, while the 10 GPM NWS-NITRATE-10 suits larger homes or small commercial demand. The right choice depends on the number of fixtures running at once and your peak flow needs. If you're unsure, contact us with your household or facility details and we can help you size it.
How do I know if I have a nitrate problem?
Nitrates in drinking water are colorless, odorless, and tasteless, so a water test is the only way to know. The U.S. EPA recommends that well users test every one to three years, and has set the Maximum Contaminant Level for nitrates at 10 ppm. We recommend a current water analysis before specifying any treatment system.
Why a nitrate-selective resin instead of a standard anion resin?
Standard type 1 and type 2 anion resins can be affected by sulfate in the water. The SIR-100-HP resin is engineered with increased selectivity for nitrate and decreased selectivity for sulfate, which results in higher operating capacity and lower nitrate leakage — more reliable performance on real-world water.
What does the metered control valve do?
The 1" metered control valve monitors how many gallons pass through the system and includes a programmable service reminder. You can set the reminder to trigger on elapsed time, gallons used, or both — so maintenance happens on schedule rather than by guesswork.
How long does it take to receive?
Each NWS-NITRATE system is built to order. Typical processing time is 3 to 5 business days before the system ships. If you have a project timeline, contact us and we'll confirm current lead times.
Can you help me size the right system?
Yes. Nitrate treatment should be specified against a current water test and your actual flow demand. Reach out to our team with your water analysis and application details, and we can help confirm whether the 6 GPM or 10 GPM model is the right fit.
Performance & Compatibility Notice The NWS-NITRATE series is manufactured by IPW Industries Inc. Nitrate reduction performance depends on incoming water chemistry, flow rate, contaminant concentrations, and proper installation and maintenance; a current water analysis is recommended before specifying the system.
