The Hydronix SDP-4510 is a 4.5" x 20" string-wound sediment filter designed for reliable depth filtration in whole-house and well water systems. Built from polypropylene using a continuous wind process, it delivers high dirt-holding capacity and exceptionally low media migration at 25 micron.

INSTALLATION & USE

Replacing the SDP-4520 Filter

  1. Shut off water supply and relieve pressure from the filter housing by opening a downstream faucet
  2. Unscrew the Big Blue housing sump, remove the old cartridge, and clean the housing interior and o-ring
  3. Insert the new Hydronix SDP-4510 cartridge, ensuring it seats properly on the standpipe
  4. Reinstall the housing sump, turn water back on slowly, and check for leaks before returning to full pressure
  5. Flush the system for 3-5 minutes to remove any carbon fines or manufacturing residue

It's designed for whole-house filtration, well water sediment removal, and pre-membrane protection in reverse osmosis systems. Compatible with mineral acids, organic solvents, caustic soda, plating solutions, potable water, demineralized water, and other challenging fluids. The polypropylene construction resists micro-organisms and handles corrosive environments up to 120°F.

String-wound sediment filters lose effectiveness gradually, and time-based replacement every 6 months prevents pressure drop and ensures consistent micron-level protection even when visible sediment load appears minimal.
