INSTALLATION & USE
Replacing the SDP-4510 Filter
- Shut off water supply and relieve pressure from the filter housing by opening a downstream faucet
- Unscrew the Big Blue housing sump, remove the old cartridge, and clean the housing interior and o-ring
- Insert the new Hydronix SDP-4510 cartridge, ensuring it seats properly on the standpipe
- Reinstall the housing sump, turn water back on slowly, and check for leaks before returning to full pressure
- Flush the system for 3-5 minutes to remove any carbon fines or manufacturing residue
COMPATIBILITY
System Fit & Applications
The Hydronix SDP-4510 fits standard 10-inch Big Blue filter housings with 4.5-inch diameter capacity. It's designed for whole-house filtration, well water sediment removal, and pre-membrane protection in reverse osmosis systems. Compatible with mineral acids, organic solvents, caustic soda, plating solutions, potable water, demineralized water, and other challenging fluids. The polypropylene construction resists micro-organisms and handles corrosive environments up to 120°F.
🔧 Pro tip: Mark the installation date on the filter housing with a permanent marker. String-wound sediment filters lose effectiveness gradually, and time-based replacement every 6 months prevents pressure drop and ensures consistent micron-level protection even when visible sediment load appears minimal.
