Fleck Backwashing pH Neutralizer — 1.0 to 2.5 Cu Ft
Acidic water (pH below 7) slowly eats copper pipe and fixtures. This system runs your water through a bed of Pur-Cal calcite with a 10% Corosex (magnesium oxide) boost. The calcite raises pH and stops on its own near neutral; the Corosex adds extra lift for water in the low 6s. A Fleck control valve backwashes the bed on a schedule so it stays loose and does not channel.
Sizing by household and flow
| Size | Tank | Valve | Service flow | Backwash | Typical home |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.0 cu ft | 9" × 48" | Fleck 5600 timer | up to 6 gpm | 3.5 gpm | 1–2 bathrooms |
| 1.5 cu ft | 10" × 54" | Fleck 5600 timer | up to 9 gpm | 5.0 gpm | 2–3 bathrooms |
| 2.0 cu ft | 12" × 52" | Fleck 5600 timer | up to 12 gpm | 7.0 gpm | 3–4 bathrooms |
| 2.5 cu ft | 13" × 54" | Fleck 5800 SXT | up to 15 gpm | 8.0 gpm | 4–5 bathrooms |
Your well pump must deliver the backwash rate shown. The 2.5 cu ft model uses the Fleck 5800 SXT because its backwash (about 7.4 gpm) is more than the 5600 drain can pass.

Two ways to ship
Unassembled (ships ground): tank, valve, bypass and each media bag ship in separate boxes by UPS. You load the gravel and media and thread on the valve.
Assembled (ships freight): we load the media, install the valve and bypass, and ship it on a pallet by LTL freight. The assembled price includes $150 for freight.
Fit and upkeep
- Best for well water with pH about 6.0–6.9. For water below 6.0, use our Build Your System page to get a richer Corosex blend.
- Neutralizers add hardness as they work. If your water is already hard, put a softener after this system.
- Calcite and Corosex dissolve as they work. Top up the media about once a year.
- Install first in line, after the pressure tank and before any softener or carbon filter.
🔧 Pro tip: Test pH at a faucet a day after startup, then again after a month. If pH is still under 7, add a little more Corosex at your next top-up.
