Each housing is made up of two parts: the cap (top) and sump (bottom). Caps are typically molded from reinforced polypropylene for durability. Opaque sumps are also polypropylene-based, offering excellent resistance to high pressure—up to approximately 125 PSI, depending on the manufacturer.
Clear sumps, on the other hand, are made from styrene acrylonitrile (SAN), which allows for filter visibility but usually carries a slightly lower pressure rating around 90 PSI. For high-pressure systems, opaque housings are the better option.
