System Requirements
The IPW Salt-Free Water Conditioner is compatible with municipal and well water sources up to 25 grains per gallon of hardness. Sized by peak flow rate rather than household grain capacity — choose the tank size that comfortably covers your home's peak demand. Because there's no regeneration cycle, no drain connection or electrical outlet is needed near the install location, giving you more flexibility in where the system is placed.
Assembled vs. Unassembled — What's the Difference?
Unassembled
The mineral tank and in/out head ship as separate components, with your ScaleStop TAC media included but not loaded. You'll pour the media into the tank and mount the head — a straightforward job for anyone comfortable with basic plumbing, typically under an hour since there's no valve to program or drain line to run.
Assembled
We pour the ScaleStop TAC media into the tank, mount the in/out head, and pressure-test the complete unit in our shop before it ships. It arrives ready to set in place and connect to your home's water line — no media pouring required on your end.
Why the price difference? The assembled option reflects the labor to load the media, mount the head, and pressure-test the unit here before it ships, plus the extra care in packaging a fully built system for freight. Either option is the same conditioner underneath — assembled just saves you the media pour and the bench work.
