Quick-connect fittings by John Guest have an internal collet and O-ring. The collet's metal teeth provide a firm grip on the pipe or tubing you're using it on. Leaks can be avoided thanks to the O-tight ring's seal. John Guest's quick-connect fittings are designed to be easy to set up, to produce a leak-proof connection, and to be used with either PEX or PVC tubing or copper pipes.

Since both the quick-connect and the tubing are made of plastic, they are both flexible and yield when connected. When a faucet is turned off, the water flow stops instantly because the connection is locked into place. When you try to remove a quick-connect fitting by pulling on the cable, the teeth tighten and provide a stronger grasp thanks to the twist-lock. Even while the John Guest fitting's collet has similar little teeth that grab tubing, its quick-connect has fewer teeth than other related competitor products. A quick-connect fitting, unlike other competitors, may be taken apart and cleaned.
