COMPATIBILITY & APPLICATIONS

System Requirements and Use Cases

This Q5554-C100E is a replacement cartridge that requires an existing Omnipure Q-Series twist-off head, available with 1/4" quick-connect, 1/4" NPT female, or 3/8" NPT female fittings. Ideal for point-of-use water softening applications including coffee machines, ice makers, beverage equipment, and residential appliances where hard water causes scale buildup. The cation exchange resin actively removes calcium and magnesium ions responsible for hardness, extending equipment life and improving water quality. Replace when you notice declining performance or when hardness returns to treated water, typically based on inlet water hardness levels and total gallons processed.

💧 Pro tip: Track your inlet water hardness in grains per gallon to estimate filter life. At 10 GPG hardness, expect about 60 gallons of capacity. Higher hardness levels mean more frequent replacement, but protecting your equipment from scale damage is worth the maintenance schedule.
