The Omnipure E5528 is a 10" x 2.5" granular activated carbon filter designed specifically for pre-RO applications, with a universal cap design that fits all existing permanent heads. This T28 GAC cartridge removes chlorine, taste, and odor while protecting downstream reverse osmosis membranes from chemical degradation.

INSTALLATION & USE
How to Install the E5528 Filter
- Shut off water supply and relieve pressure from the system before removing the existing filter cartridge
- Remove the old filter by twisting counterclockwise, then clean the filter housing cap and sump with mild soap solution
- Insert the Omnipure E5528 cartridge into the housing and hand-tighten clockwise until snug against the universal cap seal
- Turn water supply back on slowly and check for leaks around the housing connection points
- Flush the new GAC filter for 5 minutes to remove carbon fines and allow the media to fully wet
COMPATIBILITY
System Compatibility
The E5528 features Omnipure's universal cap design that fits all standard E-Series permanent filter heads and most 10-inch inline housings with 2.5-inch sump capacity. This filter is designed as a pre-filter for reverse osmosis systems but can also be used in any application requiring chlorine and taste reduction at flow rates up to 0.5 GPM. The loose granular carbon media provides excellent contact time for chemical adsorption without the pressure drop associated with carbon block filters.
🔧 Pro Tip: Always install the E5528 before your RO membrane, not after. Chlorine will damage thin-film composite membranes within hours, and this GAC pre-filter is your primary defense against oxidative membrane failure.
