This specialty cartridge combines NSF 60 certified polyphosphate beads with coconut shell granular activated carbon to address both mineral scale formation and chlorine contamination in a single filter. The polyphosphate sequestration approach keeps iron and hardness minerals in suspension rather than allowing them to precipitate, while the GAC layer removes chlorine, THMs, and organic compounds that affect taste and odor.

COMPATIBILITY
Housing & Application Requirements
Designed for standard 20-inch housings with 2.5-inch diameter capacity. This filter serves as a compatible replacement for the Intelifil IF-SM-SCIG020 cartridge and fits Watts and other brand housings rated for this dimension. Suitable for whole-house and well water applications where both scale control and chlorine removal are needed. Important: phosphates provide nutrients for bacterial growth, so this cartridge should only be used with chlorinated municipal water or well systems that include bacterial protection such as UV sterilization, KDF media, or ceramic pre-filtration. Not recommended for non-chlorinated feed water without additional disinfection measures.
